There is a great article on the Good Housekeeping website about anti-aging hair products! They tested 73 products on 579 volunteers to come up with their list.
Some of the products are rather pricey....Pureology Nanoworks Shampoo & Conditioner ($53 each, salons). I hate to pay more than $10 for shampoo or conditioner but I guess if it made an amazing difference I may splurge and then use it very frugally.
You can check out all the anti-aging hair products that Good Housekeeping tested on their website: Good Housekeeping Best Anti-Aging Hair Products

What a fantastic idea for a blog, loving it!!! Being a late 40's girl I had the same epiphany as you just recently.....have now started calorie & fat counting and have realised what 'empty' calories I have been consuming and how much good food I need to eat, to be healthier and lose weight.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to all your tips!

Cindy this is great and a much needed side of blogging. After 50s are not being addressed in so much of the market place and I am a huge advocate for being the best you can be at any age. Society just makes it a bit harder to look good after 50. If you don't want to dress like a junior or a nana you are out of luck in some cases. I think we just have to work harder at it.
ReplyDeleteI have used Pureology for years, it was drying my hair after prolonged usage but the smell is beyond divine. I am using a Joico product that I really like for color treated hair. Looking forward to more post from YOU!! Kathysue
PS Cindy you might want to get rid of the Word Verification. I know you probably just forgot.xo
ReplyDeleteI love this idea and I have loved seeing how you have improved your health. You are an inspiration. I would love to be a work in progress by the time I'm 50 (in a few SHORT years).
ReplyDeleteI am going to enjoy this blog...I'm glad you started it!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Cindy. This is a great idea! I'm over 60, and agree with you about staying young and healthy. My mom is going to be 97 in October and still is fairly independent. She is a great role model. I'm following along. ~ Sarah
ReplyDeleteCindy, I love your new idea for this blog. I think a lot of us bloggers are in this catagory! I know I am. I turned 57 in May and today I answered a question about what age would I choose to stay, should I have a choice and my answer was 50. On my 50th, I was the happiest, healthiest, best weight, lookin good, that I felt I had ever been. I turned 55 and everything changed!
ReplyDeleteI got the same message to myself when I turned 65. Have been with WW now for a year and am making progress - slooooow, but steady. I am old enough to be comfortable with who I am, but how I looked was a different story. When you look in the mirror and see Miss Piggy it is time to get serious:) Don't need to be 25 again or 40 or even 60. Just want to be the best I can be where I am now. God has blessed me with so many good things in life and now I am taking better care of the body He gave me. Excited to see where this journey takes me. Looks like there will be quite a few of us on this journey together!
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you started this blog, I turned 60 in April can't believe but I am, I want to be the best 60 around so I'll be tuning in whenever you post on here. I'm a follower now too!
Cindy,
ReplyDeleteI agree with the Hair Color, I used to buy expensive hair color and a friend told me about Revlon Color silk, I love it works better than any other hair dye, I will be turning 49 this year and I cant believe how much my body is changing, I hate hot flashes, night sweats, I have also lost over 30 pounds in the past year and I work out 4 to 5 times a week (Crossfit) its intense but a great workout, I am looking foward to following your new blog.
Thanks
Barbara
Hi Cindy! I follow all of your blogs...and I can't tell you how excited I am about this one. :) Although I'm a little younger than you, I share the health and welness passion with you. So excited to see this particular blog more developed!
ReplyDeleteAlso...I LOVE PUREOLOGY. I hate how expensive their products are, but their certainly addicting!
Cindy being over 60 I started exercising when I was in my 30's and I still walk at a very fast pace 3 miles every morning. It gives you more energy when you exercise. The hair color, well
ReplyDeleteGod started dying mine when I was 20 yr old and it looks like it's going to be salt and pepper
from now on. He did a really good job on it too.
My daughter uses hair coloring and I will tell her about the Revlon Color Silk, I don't know what kind she uses. I do know she does it herself now because the hair salon was drying her hair out too fast. I love your new blog and I think it is a great idea.
LOVE the new blog concept Cindy...and you know I am RIGHT THERE with ya on the age, the life, all of it!
ReplyDeleteNot sure if anyone said this already, but Purology products (I use them too!) are sold at Ulta and Sephora and some grocery stores (Fred Meyer here in the Paciific Northwest) for less than $30...and you can gt on the Ulta email list for coupons off!
Hi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteLove your new blog. I also live in San Jose. The Nano color by Purelogy is really expensive but I will tell you, you only have to use a dime size "serving" of the shampoo to get massive suds for washing. I love how it leaves my hair feeling and my color seems to last longer.
I'm so glad you used this info yesterday, Cindy. I love the Pureology shampoo and condition. It's pricey, you're right but it lasts a long, long time. You can use less than other shampoos and the conditioner lasts forever because you only need a tiny bit.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking to me, too, so nice of you! I've had a few people come over to my blog :)
I use Pureology shampoo, it's ok but not worth the high cost, I use it sparingly. Hair color I now use Loreal Feria because I noticed that as I aged home hair coloring wasn't taking, Feria works beautifully and gives a multi faceted shine which we lose as we age.
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy,
ReplyDeleteLove the new blog. I use Revlon ColorSilk too and it is the best I have found but I do have trouble finding my shade. Seems it is always sold out!
I love Chaz Dean hair products. Have your tried them yet? My color does not wash out and my hair is growing like it hasn't for years and girl, I am way into the 50's.
