Before and After - 75 lbs weight loss

I've been planning on doing a "Before and After" post for a long time but I wanted to wait until I reached my goal but I've decided to just do it now. I still have 10 more pounds to lose but I've been at this weight for at least 6 months now so I might not reach that goal.   This before photo above was taken in 2009 and I think I had just started losing weight.

The before photo above I took when I started dieting because I wanted a really bad before picture. I put those jeans and top on just for the photo. I wouldn't have been caught dead going out wearing that. Those pants were a size 16 and I could barely squeeze into them they were so tight. The skinny jeans in the photo above are a size 4 from Old Navy! I still remember trying those on. I was in the dressing room with a size 8 and they were too big so I changed back into my clothes and went out and got a size 6 and those were a little big. I went out again and got a size 4 and I couldn't believe I was able to get them on!  I was standing in line to buy them and I was texting my daughter that I fit into a size 4! I was giddy with excitement!  Those are the only size 4s I have though, all my other pants are size 6 but I'm fine with that...I was a size 18 and squeezing into a 16...size 6 feels great!

I'm 5'7" and I weighed 220 lbs at my highest and now I'm about 145...I seem to go up and down a few pounds regularly!  My goal is 135.

I'll share more soon on how I did it but most of it was lost through Weight Watchers and LoseIt.com.  I also started working out.

March 2013

I think it's obvious that I'm a lot happier now!

I know I love to see before and after photos of people and I found looking at them very inspiring when I had all that weight to lose! I'm sharing these photos in hopes of inspiring at least one person! If I can do it so can you!

  1. I was looking for some photos of a trip to France for a blog party I am joining. My husband commented that he should do some photoshop work on the photo because it was from 1999 and I was much heavier. I went from a 14 to a 4 and then settled in at size 6. Even as active as I am, size 4 meant NEVER getting any little treats and I need some.

Great job and I hope you make it to your goal.

  10. Hey Cindy,

Have been following you at Romantic Home for a while and although you have made references to your weight loss, today's thumbnail was an eye-opener regarding my own weighty issues right now! Lost about 25 pounds 3 years ago via vigorous workouts at the gym, and just watching my portions. BUT, the weight has made its way back! Blogging, hormone fluctuations and less walking have had a hand in this and gotta get back on track! Looking forward to your follow up post for some pointers!

  11. Oh my what an inspiration... I am going through some job changes and things have been rough for me and I thought this is the time I need to be healthy...love WW, and I have to lose about 30 lbs and regardless of how MUCH weight you have to lose, it is hard work, period..a lot of my eating is "stress" eating and having been in WW before, I know the support is priceless to get through those stages.. but your story and pics have inspired me not only to go back to WW, but get back to the gym... it is such an overlooked and important part of the regimen...you look great and how great you took control of your health and are now as beautiful inside as you are outside!xxx Ann Marie

    1. Size 7 (5,7,9, 13...) is a Juniors size and size 4 (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12...)is a Misses. I have a hard time fitting in Juniors clothes, especially jeans...they are cut way to low for this 52 year old! I was 125 in high school and wore a size 9. I don't think I ever fit into a size 7 but sizes have changed a lot since the 70s.

  26. Such a pretty girl in both pictures, and I don't know how to say this without it sounding weird, but in your afters you look like you could be your own daughter. That's not to say you look older in your befores, but there's a certain lightness and happiness factor in the afters that make you look more carefree. I hope I am making sense!

Truly an inspiration, and thank you so much for sharing!

    1. Thank you! Yes, I know what you mean! I actually do feel so much younger than I did back then! My daughter gets so mad when people ask us if we are sisters...I'm 32 years older than her so I think they are just being nice (to me)!

  27. Thank you all for the nice compliments! It was a little scary for me putting these out there but I know I find posts like this so inspiring! I only added my height and weight because I alway hate it when others don't include that in their before and after photos! I was out of my comfort zone posting that!!!

  28. Hi Cindy, I haven't seen this new blog of yours but hopped over today from a link on your other one. You look absolutely fabulous, stunning and such an inspiration to people. I have always been lucky that I have been small but being only 5 feet 2" I have had to be careful. However, over the past 8 months I have piled on 10 lbs in weight comfort eating after my mum passed away. I suddenly realised the other week when I got out my jeans and couldn't get the zip done up. So I got another pair out that were a little larger and still the same problem. I am determined not to let it increase any more as I know I could just keep piling it on now so I am inspired by your post and I will start to cut back and exercise more. I have just started ballroom dancing again so hopefully this will help.

Thank you for sharing and being brave to put these photos on the internet. BTW you still looked good before and I would never have thought you were a size 18.

Congrats, you don't need to loose an ounce more, you look perfect now.

    Lee :)

    1. I'm with you on that one! I am 41 and I'd rather read about exercising than actually do it. You want to know what's shameful?? I actually live one block from a church that has a fantastic community exercise center. They have a weight room and an exercise equipment room with treadmills, etc. The cost is (a) $1 each visit OR (b) you can join for $10 a month. NO CONTRACT!! Really....right down my street and still can't pull myself up and throw out the sugar and do it. For the life of me I can't figure out why.

  35. Cindy,

I think you look beautiful in your before pictures. Your after pictures are just as beautiful. I think a lot of times we have such distorted views about how our bodies really look. I'll bet you would say (instead of your looks) is that you FEEL so much healthier, lighter, younger, physically fit, etc (and the list goes on!). Exercise and being healthier does so much for our minds/feelings/and self perception. You are such an inspiration to me. I love following your blogs. I am right on that edge of getting started myself. Thank you so so much. You are such a blessing to so many people. Please don't stop blogging--evolve if you must---but always keep yourself out there for us to check in on you!!!

    Love,
Julie (all the way in Georgia!!)

  36. Cindi, I've been following your blogs for a long, long time even though I was late to the blog world. In so doing, I've gotten a pretty good glimpse into your life's goings-on! You didn't look THAT bad at your old weight; you were always nice-looking. The difference is that now you obviously feel better not carrying the extra pounds around. Losing the weight revealed more of your face. Look at how thin your legs are! We just can't gain all this weight at mid-life. I did. We have our distractions, flaws and reasons. But the extra weight is a killer, not just for heart-related problems like hypertension, or diabetes, but don't forget the cancers. In the last four months, I have been diagnosed with endometrial cancer and just had a radical hysterectomy a couple of days ago; we're hoping the pathology comes back at Stage 1 cancer, although I wish it could have been a pre-cancer...and maybe it would have, had I just not become obese. These cancers, you see, can be very much weight-driven...and are on the rise because of the obesity epidemic in the U.S. I don't want anybody to go thru what I'm going thru. GIRLS!! Listen to your body, don't blow off symptoms, get all your annual tests, exercise with a vengeance even when you don't feel like it...and shed those pounds, NOW not tomorrow. Go for the gusto; get excited about life, like Cindi! Don't sit back and not participate because you feel self-conscious in your clothes, or miss that great outing because you know you don't have enough breath or stamina for it. Gosh, if the bonus to losing weight is saving your life, and it makes you ready to tackle any adventure...and look more pleasing to yourself in clothes, and have more energy, why the heck not?!!! Cindi, you are a GREAT inspiration to all of us, especially me...and you did it the right way, not too fast, which will keep it off. You learned new tools for living which aren't temporary. Congrats to you!
