Greek Yogurt Breakfast

This is my favorite quick breakfast!

Greek yogurt and berries!  I love the FAGE Greek yogurt. I've tried other brands but this is the best in my opinion.  I use the fat free variety, it's only 100 calories and NO FAT!!

I just layer the Greek yogurt with berries and drizzle a little honey over it.  When I first started eating this I was so used to eating yogurt that was full of sugar that it took me awhile to get used to it.  I would mix in Splenda with the yogurt but now I eat it without sweetening it or I just drizzle a little honey over the fruit if the fruit isn't sweet enough.

As I eat it I like to smash up the berries and it turns the white yogurt this pretty purple color.

Before I was unemployed I used to just take a carton of the yogurt to work and a bag of berries and I didn't even have to put it in another bowl! When I would eat this at my desk, people would always comment on how good it looked! It really is yummy and so much healthier than that sugary yogurt.

  1. That is EXACTLY what I had for breakfast today but I added some cooked Red Mill thick rolled oats and TBS chopped nuts. Delicious!

  4. That looks so good! I buy Athenos yogurt, it comes with fruit on the side but not real fruit of course. My ex H is Armenian and they actually use Greek yogurt a lot in cooking, they add it to hot soups and make it into garlic dips...yum!

  5. That looks good. I've never tried the greek yogurt. I will give it a try maybe on this weeks trip to the store.

I didn't know about this blog girlie. I'm gonna check it out.

  6. I have this for breakfast every day. I make my own non-fat yogurt, so it is not the Greek style but as it is homemade, it is very good. When berries are hard to find or very expensive I use frozen ones which are not that bad. One half of a large banana, a glass of milk, and this is my breakfast. Then I know I have eaten a minimum amount of calcium for the day.

  7. I just found this blog today, via your other blog that I found today, from another blog I found today, and you know how that goes......
So I'm stopping in to say YEAH to us 50 year old's who thankfully aren't "old" like I know my mom was at this age, and also to say that it looks like Bliss, has found her bliss!

  8. THat does look yummy! I might have to try getting used to the yogurt without sugar. I use the Activia brand for the probiotics...and like it, but your recipe looks enticing!

  11. Greek yogurt is so popular at my town that it sells out by 10 at both grocery stores. People love it so much we all stock up when it is on the shelf, which is not for long. It is not on sale often but when it is, I stock up. I love that with blood sugar issues at 54, the greek yogurt is low in sugar and keeps me full for hours.

  13. Looks yummy. This is one of my favorite breakfast foods too. It's like eating dessert! Sometimes I sprinkle a little granola on top to give it a crunch. ~ Sarah

  14. Looks great! How is Weight Watchers going? I am trying to get enough courage to go back after the holidays. I was TERRIBLE at watching what I ate and drank.

  15. Barb, I'm not doing WW now. I did it at work and when it was over I didn't sign up again. Now that I'm unemployed I don't want to spend the money on it. I'm using an app on my iphone, called Lose-it. I love it!!! I wasn't good over the holidays either but I'm back on it now.

  16. I'm so glad that I found your fitness blog, Cindy! Thanks for doing this! I have tried Greek yogurt a couple different times and all it for me was curl my lip! lol! It tastes like spoiled milk to me....but after reading your post, I realize that it just may take a little getting used to and adding some Truvia in it for a while. Well worth another try since I'm working out like a fiend everyday in an attempt to shed these 20 pounds! Thanks for the tip, sweetie! :)

  17. I came here to follow and guess what? I'm already a follower! lol I'll start visiting more often! I just recently switched to plain Greek yogurt from the "sugary" ones, too. It does take a while to get used to it and I also put a little honey in it. I've never seen that brand around here, though.

  19. No job yet! I've applied to over 70 jobs! It's very frustrating. I would love to do home staging but I really need the medical benefits and good salary that I had working at a large Fortune 500 company.

  22. Hi Cindy!

I just wanted to say thank you soooo much for mentioning the Lose It app on your blog yesterday. I downloaded it yesterday to my IPhone and I absolutely LOVE it! It is so easy to use, you can even scan barcodes, I can't believe the app is free. I could never stick with WW for very because I hated logging all the points. This app really makes it so much easier to keep track of what I'm eating.

    Thanks again! :)

  23. Sounds like a good breakfast indeed. I am drinking green smoothies in the morning and they are great for energy. My enchanted oven blog has been focusing on gluten free and low sugar treats - no easy thing to accomplish with my specialty which is roll out cookies. Keep up the good work!
    Hugs,
    Lisa
